Alside vinyl windows are made to be
long-lasting, high-performance and technically

of these goals, Alside seeks verification from
independent testing and certification agencies.
ASTM
The American Society for Testing and Materials
is an agency that develops rigorous testing
standards for products that you use in your home
every day. ASTM designs tests that challenge
specific products in very specific ways such as
extreme weather and impact resistance. These
tests are witnessed by independent laboratories
using the nationally recognized American
Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA)
test standards and criteria.
ASTM E 283: air infiltration resistance
Alside windows easily pass the rigorous air
infiltration resistance testing procedure. This
means Alside windows minimize the infiltration
of outside air, even at extreme wind speeds.
ASTM E 547: water infiltration resistance
Select Alside window brands have resisted water
infiltration in this test approximating rainfall
at the rate of eight inches per hour under
simulated wind speeds of up to 50 miles per
hour.
ASTM E 330: extreme wind speeds
Select Alside window brands maintain their
strength and integrity in simulated wind speeds
up to 155 mph the equivalent of a Category 5
hurricane.
Underwriters Laboratories
The lineals used to manufacture Alside window
products are voluntarily submitted to annual UL
testing and quarterly inspections to assure you
that they are UL Classified to ASTM E 84.

ENERGY STAR
program. In fact, Alside Window
Systems has been recognized as the ENERGY STAR
Partner of the Year in 2000, 2001 and 2002. No
other vinyl window manufacturer has demonstrated
this level of commitment to the ENERGY STAR
program, and its efforts in the conservation of
energy.
The ENERGY STAR program is a voluntary
partnership among the US Department of Energy
and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It
is designed to assist consumers in the
recognition of energy efficient products and
promote the environmental and economic benefits
of these products through the ENERGY STAR label
and other program activities.
Alside Windows, when utilizing the ClimaTech Insulated Glass Package featuring Low-E glass
and argon gas, are ENERGY STAR qualified for all
50 states.
Window products qualify for the ENERGY STAR
program when they meet or exceed the minimum
guidelines for energy efficiency, set forth by
the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC).
Other consumer products such as washers,
refrigerators, audio/visual systems and
computers receive the ENERGY STAR label when
they exceed the minimum federal energy
consumption standards. These figures will vary,
however, from product to product.
The ENERGY STAR program is important for
window products because this qualification is
granted to only the most advanced, energy
efficient window products on the market. Alside
is proud to be included with this elite group of
qualified manufacturers whose windows qualify
for the ENERGY STAR label.

products and verify that we meet the highest
standards of performance, quality, value and
safety.
The
American Architectural Manufacturers Association
(AAMA) is recognized internationally for the
development of standards that provide
third-party validation of product performance
and quality. The continuing objective of AAMA is
to develop the highest levels of technical
expertise, while supporting members with
business services and marketing research
programs for their growth and success.
The
American Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM) is a not-for-profit organization that
provides a forum for the development and
publication of voluntary consensus standards for
materials, products, systems and services. ASTM
standards serve as a basis for manufacturing,
procurement and regulatory activities.
The
National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
establishes test criteria that set the standard
for performance ratings for manufacturers of
window and door products. The NFRC provides
consistent ratings on window, door and skylight
products. The primary goal of the NFRC is to
provide accurate information on the energy
performance of these products.
UL Classified is a logo consumers have learned
to trust over the generations. Products that
display the
Underwriters Laboratories logo have been
strenuously tested to ensure that they are safe
for everyday use. Underwriters Laboratories
applies these same safety considerations to
manufacturers of building materials, including
vinyl windows. We voluntarily submit to annual
UL testing and quarterly inspections to assure
you that our window products are UL Classified
